Director Harish Shankar's 'Valmiki' stars Varun Tej and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. It is Varun and Pooja's second film this year together. They both tasted success with their recent outing 'F2' and 'Maharshi' respectively. They have pinned huge hopes on this film and praying hard to have some magic spilled at the box office.

Valmiki is the Telugu remake of Tamil superhit film Jigarthanda. Pooja Hegde is reprising Lakshmi Menon’s role from the original. Fans are looking forward to see Varun Tej playing Valmiki as his role here is totally different from his all his previous movies. The teaser, trailer of the movie received an overwhelming response from all quarters.

Advance booking for the film has opened in many areas and tickets are selling like hotcakes in Telugu states. Going by the ticket registering, Valmiki is expected to register Rs 4 Cr on opening day at the box office. If the film earns good reviews from critics then there are chances for 'Valmiki' to beat Varun Tej's previous box office records.

Varun Tej is essaying the lead role of a gangster and it has been modified in the remake, reveals director Harish. Valmiki was earlier slated to release on September 13th but now, has been postponed to September 20th.
