Veteran actor Vijaya Nirmala passed away today in Hyderabad, after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 73. She breathed her last in Continental Hospitals in Gachibowli. She had directed 44 films in Telugu and her name was even entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the female director with the most number of the films. Vijaya Nirmala was born and brought up in Tamil Nadu. She starred in more than 200 films in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi.

She is survived by husband Krishna and son Naresh. Vijaya Nirmala married Krishna after divorcing from her first husband. Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala starred together as the lead pair in more than 50 films. Vijaya Nirmala's last rites will be performed tomorrow in Hyderabad.
