Yesteryear star Sobhan Babu was one of the legendary actors in Tollywood and had an immense female fan following, thanks to his handsome looks. Popularly known as Natabhushana, the actor was the only one in the film industry who preferred to retire at a time when he was much in demand.

In a recent interview with the reporters, renowned writer-actor Paruchuri Gopalakrishna spoke about the greatness of Sobhan Babu. He was quoted saying, “Sobhan Babu led a disciplined life which is an inspiration for many. We planned to cast Sobhan Babu in a key role for Mahesh Babu's Athadu. However, Sobhan Babu already decided to retire from films."

Elaborating further, the screenwriter said that they even sent a blank cheque to Sobhan Babu offering the role in the film, however, the actor sent back the blank cheque.

While there was no mention of the role which Sobhan Babu was offered, speculations are rife that he was offered the role of Mahesh Babu’s grandfather in Athadu which was played by Nasser.
