NGK, the political thriller starring Suriya and Sai Palllavi had hit screens today. Hours after its release, Tamilrockers, a piracy website, had leaked the film. The movie has big names like Rakul Preet Singh and Devraj among many others. The movie circles around a character named Nandha Gopalan Kumaran, who is known to be a commoner who dared to take a dive into politics. The film was helmed by Selvaraghavan and has been in the production stages for over two years.
Over the previous week the Tamil film Lisaa, Sita, a teklugu Drama and The Hollywood release Alladin that were the victims of piracy by this site.
Talking about NGK, Suirya told indianexpress.com, “NGK was a very complex character, You don’t know what’s there on his (Selvaraghavan) mind. Most of the time he himself acts out scenes, putting actors to shame. It is a treat to watch (him doing that). He is a fantastic actor and I really enjoyed following his act. I saw my character through Selvaraghavan and I did what I did.”
NGK, meanwhile, has opened to mixed reviews.
In her review, indianexpress.com’s S Subhakeerthana wrote, “There is a certain classiness to this intense political drama that you can’t deny—but NGK, on the whole, isn’t satisfying. Simply put, it is neither a Selvaraghavan nor a Suriya film. You may say it doesn’t have to be. But that matters to an extent, right?”
