Superstar Rajinikanth is riding high on the success of his recent outing 2.0 which is performing well at the box office. Rajini has moved on to his next project Petta which is nearing completion. Rajinikanth and filmmakers are working round the clock to deliver the movie on the promised date. It’s a known fact that most Rajinikanth movies do not have a solo release in terms of language we mean. All his movies are dubbed in Telugu. In the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the Kollywood star enjoys a huge fan following.

The latest we hear is that movie distributors back home are not showing interest in adjusting theatres screens for Rajinikanth’s big ticket film Petta. It is a known fact that Telugu movies featuring Ram Charan's Vinaya Vidheya Rama, Venkatesh's F2 and Balakrishna's NTR biopic have locked Pongal as the release date for their respective movies. It is learnt that Rajinikanth movies are not fetching any kind of profits in the Telugu states. If you recall, Rajinikanth's 2.0 has been declared a blockbuster hit in Tamil and Hindi. But it failed to gather as much love and attention from the Telugu audiences. Rumors mills suggest that the distributors and exhibitors are not keen on showing "Petta" during the Sankranthi season when big ticket Telugu films are lined up for release.

Petta Telugu film rights have been bought by C Kalyan who is holding talks with Telugu distributors to get some good theatres. He is trying hard to convince the distributors but all good theatres are reserved for Telugu big tickets films—NTR biopic Kathanayakudu, Vinaya Vidheya Rama and F2. It remains to be seen how he will manage to release the movie in Telugu states despite facing a shortage of theatres.
