Rangasthalam Collections Unbeaten Despite 2.0 Tsunami

We didn’t anticipate that the record set by a Ram Charan film could become impossible for even A-listers to break. But yes it has happened. Yes. We are talking about Charan's recently released film Rangasthalam which was declared the highest grossing Telugu film in 2018. Rangasthalam was a political thriller set in a village backdrop. The film managed to keep the audiences at the edge of their seats.

Words aren't enough to describe Charan’s performance in Rangasthalam. He played a partially impaired person in the movie. It is not an easy job to act like a deaf person but Charan pulled off the role easily. Hats off to Charan and Sukumar too, who showcased the former in a never before seen avatar. At the time of its release, Rangasthalam grabbed headlines all the time for records and became a sensational hit in Tollywood.

Now, the latest film that is making the news is Rajinikanth's latest release 2.0. The film is creating new records every other day at North India and Tamil Nadu box office. 2.0 has set the box office on fire in Chennai and northern parts of the state. But Rajini's 2.0 has failed to gather momentum in the Telugu states. The film has failed to garner the same love and affection from Telugu audiences. Earlier, trade pundits thought 2.0 could easily overtake Rangasthalam. Latest reports reveal that 2.0 Telugu version has earned half of Rangasthalam.

If you recall Ram Charan's Rangasthalam collected a share of a whopping Rs.94 crores in Telugu states behind Baahubali series. Rangasthalam set new benchmarks for upcoming Telugu films. Not only that, it was expected that 2.0 could either beat Rangasthalam record in Nizam area. In Nizam alone, Rangatshalam collected Rs.28.75 crores while 2.0 accumulated Rs.21.60 crores. The Rajini starrer needs another 2 cr to beat Rangasthalam record. However, 2.0 has turned out to be a massive hit in Tamil and Hindi.

Rajinikanth's 2.0 is directed by Shankar. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson in lead roles. So far, 2.0 has earned Rs 623 Crores in its theatrical run of 12 days at the ticket window. It is expected to turn out to be a profitable venture in Rajini and Akshay's career.
