U Turn Leak Hits Box Office Collections

Sizzling actress Samantha’s latest flick U-Turn released in theatres last week on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The film failed to receive the expected response from the audiences. U-Turn is the remake of a Kannada film, which had raked in substantial moolah at the ticket window.

The film with the same title was remade in Telugu and Tamil which received a lukewarm response from the audiences. However, film critics gave a decent rating to the film but the makers expected the film to perform better. On its opening day, U-Turn in Telugu earned approximately Rs 1.6 crores in the Telugu speaking states while raking in 0.56 lakhs in Tamil Nadu. With the original being a hit and the trailers of the remakes too being impressive not to mention Samantha’s unlimited promotions of the film on social media, one would have expected the film to mint gold at the box office.

However, the dip in its collections has worried filmmakers while trade analysts are finding reasons as to why the film didn’t do expected business. But I guess we know the reason.

Latest we hear is that the film got leaked on torrent sites. This probably is the reason why the film failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box office.

The film features Bhumika, Aadhi in pivotal roles and directed by Pawan Kumar. Samantha is seen playing a journalist in the film. Though her performance was impressive, the leak probably spoilt the movie’s fortunes at the box office.

On the career front, Amazing films have lined up for Samantha. She has signed a project with her husband Naga Chaitanya which is yet to launch, shortly. Watch this space for more.
