In 2015, a theatre artist played the role of a cool dude and buddy to actor Nani in the critically acclaimed film Yevade Subramanyam. Prior to that, he had played a cameo in Shekhar Kammula's Life is Beautiful.

Though his performance in Yevade Subramanyam earned him critical acclaim, both the films did not make him a star actor. The recognition was yet to come. if you haven't guessed the artiste by now, he's none other than Vijay Deverakonda.

2016 saw the release of Pelli Choopulu, a national award winning romantic comedy, turning out to be the biggest hit of Tollywood that year. Sandeep Vanga's directorial Arjun Reddy, a rage that refuses to die down, was the film that made him an overnight sensation in the South Indian film industry. The fact that at times, Vijay Deverakonda's name is often mistaken for Arjun Reddy, speaks volumes about the film's impact on the audience. With a supporting role in yesteryear Telugu actress Savitri's biopic 'Mahanati,' the Arjun Reddy star came one step closer to the South Indian audience.

Doesn't Vijay's journey in Tollywood sound like that of Kollywood star Dhanush? Super star Rajnikanth's son-in-law, Dhanush went on to become the Tamil film industry's darling with back to back hits like Aadukulam, Mayakkam Enna, 3, Raanjhanaa, Maari and Velaiyilla Pattathari. Dhanush was introduced in 2002 to the Tamil audiences by his father-director Kasthuri Raja in the film Thalluvadho Ilamai, which received positive response from the critics. But, it was only in 2006 that Dhanush became a star actor with Thiruvilayadal Arambam, a commercial entertainer.

Dhanush's singing sensation came to light in 2011, his popular song "Why this Kolaveri Di" became the first Indian music video to cross 100 million views on YouTube. On the other side, Vijay Deverakonda formed his "Rowdy club," a group of lakhs of his fans who are also enthusiastic of his clothing line "Rowdy". In recent times, Vijay is seen wearing the famous ROWDY shirts to film events.

Right now, Vijay Deverakonda is basking in the glory of his unstoppable success with back to back super hits in three consecutive years—Pelli Choopulu in 2016, Arjun Reddy in 2017 and Geetha Govindam in 2018. On top of these hits, Vijay's Taxiwala and NOTA are yet to be released shortly.

NOTA, directed by Anand Shankar, casts Vijay deverakonda, Sathyaraj, Nasser, Mehreene pirzada, M.S., Bhaskar and Priyadarshi among others.
