Elderly Woman Killed in Telangana by Kin on Suspicion of Sorcery

Karimnagar: A 65-year-old woman, who was suspected to have indulged in sorcery, was killed in her sleep by kin at her residence in the district on Sunday night.

Pallepu Narsamma was murdered after her two nephews slit her throat at Jagdevpet village under Velgatoor police limits, nearly 50 km from here, Peddapalli Circle Inspector A Mahesh said. She was living separately from her children in Jagdevpet village, he said. Her nephews Pallepu Mallesh (34) and Pallepu Nagesh (32) developed a suspicion that she was indulging in sorcery, the officer said. Last night, the duo slit her throat by a knife, while she was sleeping at her house and escaped from the spot, Mahesh said.
However, the incident came to light on Monday after villagers spotted her body in a pool of blood, the officer added.
