The letter adds that many of his serious health problems have not yet been addressed. He has multiple health problems which are inter-related, it says. Further, the Nagpur Hospital lacks the specialised care required, it says.

It further states—“After receiving the information from the advocates on the health issues of Prof. G.N. Saibaba and his possible shifting to Nagpur Medical College Hospital from Nagpur Central jail to conduct diagnostic tests, examination and treatment, I went to Nagpur on 2nd April 2018. I was neither given the opportunity to see and meet G.N.Saibaba nor was allowed to meet the treating doctor. Police officials didn't allow me to talk to Saibaba even when they were taking him back to Jail in the evening. They didn't allow me and I was physically pushed back by lady police constables.

On 23rd August 2017 Saibaba wrote a letter to IG Prisons, Maharashtra requesting for transfer of Prison from Central Prison, Nagpur to Central Prison, Hyderabad.” According to the letter, on 16th of November 2017 Saibaba’s mother also wrote to the Honourable Governor for a transfer of Saibaba from Nagpur Jail and on 17th November I made the same appeal. We also met V.K Singh, DGP (Prisons), Telangana and urged him for transfer of Saibaba to Telangana, as per the provisions of 1950 Central Act and certain Supreme Court Judgments. We also met the DGP of Telangana Police Sri Mahendra Reddy seeking his ‘No Objection’ for a transfer as his entire family members including aged mother is living in Hyderabad along with his younger brother’s family.”

Vasantha Kumari’s letter states that the family has have moved their bail application for Saibaba on medical grounds. It adds that the “the Maharashtra police are repeatedly seeking continuous adjournments despite the degenerating health condition of Saibaba.”

The DU academic’s wife says that all he wants is the presence of family members when admitted into the hospital for proper care and support. She concludes with the observation that “he cannot survive for long without comprehensive medical treatment.”
