EC urged to inquire deletion of voters' names from list

New Delhi: Congress leader and former vice-chairman of NDMA M Shashidhar Reddy has urged the Election Commission to immediately send an inquiry team to Telangana to probe into the allegation of large-scale deletion of names of voters in 24 Assembly constituencies in the state.

In a memorendum, Reddy said there have been allegation of large-scale deletion of voters in 24 Assembly constituencies in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area allegedly at behest of Telangana Rashtra Samiti-led government.

The Election Commission should immediately send a team to probe the allegation and give direction not to delete the names from voters list, he said in the memorandum.

The former vice-chairman of National Disaster Management Authority said people have immense faith in the Election Commission and asked them to ensure that necessary action is taken so that people's faith in Election Commission is not shaken.
