DU Professor Calls Goddess Durga ‘Sexy Prostitute’
New Delhi: A case was filed against an assistant professor of Delhi University on Saturday for demeaning goddess Durga in his Facebook post.
Kedar Kumar Mandal is working as an assistant professor at Delhi Universities Dyal Singh College. On September 22, Kedar updated his Facebook status saying, "Durga is the very much sexy prostitute in the indian Methology." The post, which hurted the sentiments of several Hindu groups received huge criticism.
The student organizations like Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students Union of India (NSUI) demanded the dismissal of the professor from DU administration.
On the beginning day of Navratri on Friday, Kedar posted it on his Facebook timeline around 06.43pm which he later deleted it after he received backlash on the social media.
