Drunken Man Stages Drama By Jumping Into Krishna River, Vehicular Traffic Disrupted 

Vijayawada: A drunken man caused a flutter at Prakasam barrage here on Tuesday after he jumped into the Krishna river.

Police personnel, who were on duty at the barrage, reacted in the nick of time and rescued the man with help of a rope. As he was being pulled up, he again jumped into the river. As the water-level was brimming to full capacity following heavy rains, the police felt that the man would drown. However, the drunkard safely caught one of the barrage pillars for support.

Meanwhile, commuters and passersby whipped out their gadgets and captured the incident. Vehicular traffic on the barrage road was disrupted for about a kilometre due to the incident and subsequent presence of several police personnel. After half an hour, he was pulled to safety and rushed to a nearby hospital. The reason as to why the man jumped into the river is yet to be ascertained.
