Drunk Student Races His Porshe Into Auto Stand Killing Driver

The accident took place on Monday early hours at Dr Radhakrishnan Salai road in Chennai. A drunk student along with his friend was returning home from a late night party and rammed his Porsche through autorickshaws.

Chennai: A 30-year-old auto driver was killed and ten others suffered injuries when a Porsche car hit the autos parked on a roadside in Chennai. The accident took place on Monday early hours at Dr Radhakrishnan Salai road. A drunk student along with his friend was returning home from a late night party and rammed his Porsche through autorickshaws.

Police identified the drunk student is a car racer and his name is Vikas Anand, 22. He’s the son of Supreme Court lawyer Vijay Anand and a resident of T Nagar. Vijay Anand was driving the car and his friend’s name is Charan Kumar. Both attended a party organized by Tuti Patriot, who won the Tamil Nadu Premier League final held at Chepauk on Sunday night. However, the duo escaped unhurt as the airbags were deployed when the car hit the median at a high speed.

Vikas, who is the son of Supreme Court lawyer Vijay Anand, was driving the car. Vikas and Charan were drunk, police said.

After hitting the median, the car ploughed through autorickshaws parked on the roadside, injuring people who were sleeping in the autos. The severely injured auto drivers Arumugam and Varadhan suffered serious injuries and were admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government Medical College Hospital. Other injured people were admitted into Government Royapetah Hospital. The Adyar traffic investigation wing police registered the case and detained Vikas and Charan.
