Hyderabad: A 37-year-old man, his 9-year-old son and two other kids of the family died on the spot after a GHMC tipper hit the bike they were riding near RTA office at Tirumualagiri in Secunderabad on Thursday midnight.

The wife of the deceased and another child were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment at Yashoda hospital in Secunderabad. The deceased was identified as Md. Azar(37), son Aman(9), Ashwiya(7) and Alina(3).

The accident is believed to have happened as the driver was in an inebriated condition. The family belonging to Lalapet was going for a wedding of a close relative at Tirumalagiri. Driver Adivaiah of the tipper (AP24 V.5893) has been taken into custody by Karkhana police.

Azar called his sister from his mobile after the accident took place to come and rescue them as no police turned up at the spot for over half-an-hour. She said her brother and kids could have survived had the police arrived and given them medical aid. The family is deeply shocked and anguished over the incident.

The delay in police reaction was because the accident spot falls exactly on the boundary of Karkhana-Tirumalagiri police limits. However, only after the intervention of Minister KT Rama Rao who was on his way back home from his Sircilla constituency and stopped to help the victims the police arrived at the spot.
