In a major haul, the West Zone police under the Hyderabad commissionerate arrested three persons and recovered 225 gm of pure cocaine and 25 gm of Heroin from them.
The three persons - two Nigerians and one Ghanaian - were arrested based on the information provided by an arrested engineering student from Chandranagar area of the city. The contraband was being smuggled into the city to supply them for New Year parties.
Revealing this, Hyderabad police commissioner VV Srinivasa Rao said that the cocaine was mixed in Glucon D and chocolates and was being supplied to the clientele. He said the total worth of the catch is around Rs 99 lakh. He said the market cost of the seized heroine is around Rs 2.50 lakh. Stating that this was the biggest narcotic haul during the last four years, the commissioner said that 1600 gm of cocaine was seized from 2014 to 2017. This year alone, 900 gms were seized, he added.
He further pointed out that two of the arrested were known drug peddlers, while the Ghanaian was first-timer.
