Don’t play with ‘T’ people sentiments, KK tells Azad

Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad’s recent remarks in Hyderabad on separate Telangana continue to draw flak from Congress as well as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) circles. The latest to join the welter of such leaders is former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and former Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao.

Spewing venom at Azad for making such ‘uncalled for’ remarks, Keshav Rao said in Hyderabad today that the Union Minister appeared to be keen on instigating the innocent people of Telangana region. “You are well aware that hundreds of youths in the region had resorted to suicides during their fight for Telangana state. Now your statement amounts to belittling them to take away their lives. Please be careful while making such uncalled for remarks and do not play with the lives of innocent people of Telangana,” he told Azad.

The former PCC chief reminded Azad that all the political parties in Andhra Pradesh had already given their consent for dividing the State. “Only after that the Congress has made an announcement on initiating steps for carving out Telangana state on December 9. You should remember this fact,” Keshav Rao stated.

Appealing to the Centre to expeditiously take a decision on Telangana, the former Rajya Sabha member was of the firm opinion that any delay in this regard would prove costly for the Congress in the general elections which are only a few months away.
