DNA Test For 2 Newborns at Koti Maternity Hospital  

Hyderabad: To put an end to baby swapping row a DNA test will be done on babies at Koti Maternity Hospital to identify their biological parents. The decision was taken by Sultan Bazar police to resolve the problem.

The police said that they are waiting for the Forensic Science Laboratory and Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) officials to send their staff to hospital and collect sample from babies and the two mothers.

“As both the women underwent surgery, we could not shift them to FSL for blood sample collection to conduct DNA matching test. We are checking with FSL and CDFD officials if they could send their staff to the hospital for collection of samples from the babies and the new mothers,” said T Sudhakar,Sultan Bazar SI.

A tense situation prevailed at Koti Maternity Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, after one Chatru said that his wife Rajini, who delivered a boy was swapped with baby girl and then family staged dharna over the foul play by the hospital, following which Chatru lodged complaint with the police.

Chatru said that the hospital staff while shifting the baby to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) said that his wife delivered a baby boy but later changed his version.
