Hyderabad: The makers of Duvvada Jagannadham (DJ) have finally agreed to delete the controversial lines ‘Namakam Chamakam’ from Gudilo Badilo Madilo Vodilo song after the Brahmin community took objection for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus.

A complaint was filed by Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, president of All India Brahmin Federation, with regional censor board. Realizing that the issue may not subside and could hamper the film’s release, director Harish Shankar met the protesters and assured them to delete those controversial lines.

"They have taken the words from Lord Shiva's recital Namakam Chamakam, and made a pun on it. We will not tolerate this. We can't use words from Namakam Chamakam in a romantic song. It is completely wrong and against Hindu culture," said Srinivasa.

The song released on YouTube on May 29 became an instant hit with its peppy tune but it also raked in controversy for lifting a few lines from the religious hymn - Rudra Stotra - and the Brahmin community strongly objected to it. The Brahmins said that the lyrics were used to describe the beauty of heroine which is highly objectionable as it demeans the Hindu God.
