Diwali Goes Global, World Leaders Host Dinners, Post Greetings

Diwali is going truly global thanks to the huge Indian diaspora. US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minister Justic Trudeau and several other global leaders have greeted the people of Indian Origin on the occasion of Diwali. Leading the pack was Donald Trump, who held Diwali celebrations in the White House.

US Vice President Mike Pence, along with several other lawmakers have send their Diwali greetings to Indian-Americans and those celebrating the festival of lights across the globe. "Happy Diwali to those celebrating with friends and family," Pence said in a tweet. "May we all strive for peace, prosperity and the triumph of light over darkness," said the US Vice President.

Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, who last year celebrated Diwali in a temple sent in her greetings by a tweet and said she was looking forward to her visit to India next month to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

British Prime Minister Theresa May too posted a two-and-a-half minute long video greeting the Indian diaspora on the occasion of Diwali. He also hosted a dinner for the Indians in Britain. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau too greeted the Indias on Diwali.
