Despite RBI Diktat, Rs10 Coin Still Not Accepted Anywhere

RBI advised people not to believe baseless rumors and asked to accept these coins as legal tender in all their transactions

Hyderabad: Past few days many people in the City are apprehensive on trading with Rs10 coins upon false rumors that the coins are invalid and fake coins are being circulated. However, hearing the rumors spread like a wildfire, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) advised people not to believe such baseless rumors and asked to accept these coins as legal tender in all their transactions without any hesitation.

RBI further said that when coins are in circulation for longer periods, it is quite possible that coins of different designs and shapes are circulating simultaneously but people shouldn’t consider the existing version fake currency unless they are declared officially so.

A local trader said that they are worst hit because of these rumors. "We are already facing hardship due to demonetization and following these rumor customers are not accepting the coins from me."

Another flower vendor said that we are holding back these coins as customers are not accepting them, adding that, they are struggling to find ways to use the coins.
