Deputy Transport Commissioner arrested for disproportionate assets

Vijayawada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Andhra Pradesh has arrested a Deputy Transport Commissioner for having assets worth Rs 2.30 crore which was disproportionate to his known sources of income

The market value of the assets allegedly owned by the Deputy Transport Commissioner, Adimulam Mohan, posted at Kakinada, could be much more. An ACB release on Saturday said he was arrested and produced before the court here on Saturday.

Searches were conducted simultaneously since April 28 at the residence of Mohan in Kakinada and other premises in AP, Telangana and Karnataka, belonging to his friends and relatives. During the searches, eight open plots (of 2100 sq yds) at Kompalli, four plots (of 2100 sq yds) at Madhapur, one at Serilingampalli (500 sq yds), a residential flat at Panjagutta, a four-storied building at the posh Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, a plot measuring 15 cents in Tirupati and 54.5 acres of agricultural land in Prakasam, Nellore and Hyderabad were found, the release said.

Two kgs of gold ornaments, five kgs of silver articles, fixed deposits of Rs 4 lakh, bank balance of Rs 3 lakh, household articles worth Rs 7 lakh, cash of Rs 83,000 and a Maruti Ertiga car were also found.

Total value of all these assets is Rs 2.30 crore, the release, issued by the ACB director general's office, added. But it did not reveal the actual worth of assets as per the market rates. The four-storied building at Jubilee Hills alone will be worth a couple of crores of rupees as per the prevailing value. Same is the case with plots at Madhapur, Serilingampalli and Kompalli, considered the hotbeds of real estate market in Hyderabad.

Further, number of bank accounts and lockers in Hyderabad and other places are yet to be opened, ACB said.
