Decision to expel AAP rebels unfortunate:Maha AAP chief

Mumbai: Aam Aadmi Party's Maharashtra unit head Subhash Ware today termed the ouster of four rebel leaders from the party as unfortunate, saying such a situation could have been avoided.

This decision (to expel four leaders) is very unfortunate and both the groups should have avoided this situation which has brought crisis within the party, Ware told PTI.

AAP rebels Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha were expelled from the party last night for anti-party activities and gross undisciplined. Ware, known for his proximity towards the Yadav and Bhushan camp, however, parried questions about his future course of action.

However, to a query on if he would convene a meeting of the party's state executive committee in the near future to discuss the current crisis, he said they might hold a meeting but not to discuss any specific issue. Meanwhile, a senior leader, on condition of anonymity, claimed that few AAP members are upset with the current developments and have asked the top leaders to hold an urgent meeting of the party's state unit. There are 17 members in state executive committee and 12 are sympathisers of Yadav and Bhushan.

They are not happy with the expulsion of the party's founding members, the leader said. Senior AAP leader from Maharashtra Mayank Gandhi, who has already revolted against the dictatorial attitude of party chief Arvind Kejriwal, chose not to comment on the current development.
