Death looms large over panchayat polls

Tragedy struck second phase panchayat polls in several districts in the state. Five persons including three woman died while casting their votes on Saturday morning.

According to reports, a senior lady died of heart attack at Vayyuru of Totlavalluru in Krishna district. In a similar incident, an aged man suddenly collapsed at the Vengalapadu polling centre in Khammam district. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital. But doctors declared him brought dead. The polling was temporarily put on hold when a 70-year-old man died of heart attack at the Boggulabanda of Nelakondapalli.

In Nalgonda district too, a woman collapsed while returning after casting her vote at Godigonda of Kodada mandal. She died on the way to hospital.
In another incident in the district, a resident of Reddyganaparam, died of heart attack when he was casting his vote at Buttayagudem.

According to latest reports coming in, senior citzen Ramavva (60) died when she slipped at her house in Mirajapura village of Birkur mandal in Nizamabad district.
A senior resident of Mulapalle in Siddavatam of Kadapa, died of heart attack when he went to cast her vote.
