Dead Man Comes Alive As Family Prepares For 10th Day Rituals

Hyderabad: The family members of a ‘dead’ man who were preparing to perform his 10th day ceremony found him alive on Sunday.

The family members found Anjaiah in Old City when they went searching after being informed by a neighbors that he saw him in an inebriate condition at Mir Alam Mandi on Saturday.

Anjaiah, a resident of Hanuman Nagar in Golnaka of Amberpet works at a function hall at Malakpet. He left for work on September 1 but as he didn’t return home his son Krishna filed a case.

On showing his father’s photograph at Mir Chowk police station one of the constables said that they found a man at MGBS in a drunken state and was shifted to Osmania General Hospital (OGH), but Krishna could not trace him at OGH.

Krishna then went to Afzalgunj police station on September 5 carrying his father’s picture, who said that they found this man with injuries and was admitted in OGH.

“Krishna and his mother identified the patient as Anjaiah, who was swathed in bandages and took care of him at the hospital for three days before he succumbed to his injuries on September 8,” Afzalgunj inspector C Anjaiah said.

Inspector said that it is shocking to learn that Anjaiah’s wife and son were unable to identify him at the hospital. Both the times, Anjaiah left the hospital without informing the staff after regaining consciousness, inspector added.

The inspector further said that a case of suspicious death has been registered under section 174 of CrPC about the death of the man, adding that they have photographs of the deceased so that someone could identify him in future.
