Date Fixed For Rahul Gandhi’s Anointing As Congress President 

The Congress is all set to anoint Rahul Gandhi as the party president. By setting its organisational election juggernaut in motion, the party has given the clear indication that Rahul Gandhi would lead the party in the 2019 general elections.

The new AICC president would be elected on December 16. A decision to this effect was taken at the Congress Working Committee, which met at New Delhi on Monday morning. The decision was unanimous.

Accordingly, a notification would be issued on December 1 and the last date for filing of nominations is December 4. The elections would be held on December 16 and the votes would be counted on December 19. In the event of there being only one candidate, Rahul Gandhi would be declared party president on December 4.

Rahul Gandhi is on a hectic tour of Gujarat to campaign for the Congress Party in the upcoming elections.
