Don't worry. There is no dearth of power in the state. However, the employees of AP Power Generation Corporation and AP Power Transmission and its related organisations will participate in the strike to extend their support to the Samaikyandhra agitation.

The employees have called for a strike from work beginning Wednesday night. The staff of Transco, Genco issued notices to this effect. Apparently, right from the line man to manager working at the respective power stations have already announced that they will boycott their duties from tonight.

Earlier in the day, the workers had threatened to go on strike from Wednesday midnight but decided to begin a 72-hour strike after a meeting with Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Kiran Reddy appealed to them to reconsider their decision in view of the inconvenience their strike would cause to the people. "Emergency services are exempted from strike. Our aim is to keep Andhra Pradesh remain united," the workers told reporters here.

Meanwhile, Transco and Genco CMDs have requested the employees to withdraw their strike call as it would affect the railway, hospital and supply to agriculture if the power production is cut. (CMDs speech)

Protesters belonging to different organisations supporting Samaikyandhra took out huge rallies and resorted to road blockades at several places as the protests entered 43rd day today. More than four lakh employees in 13 districts are on strike demanding that Centre immediately withdraw its move to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

Government offices remained shut as employees from almost every department joined the strike. While public transport came to a grinding halt across Seemandhra as APSRTC workers too continued the strike
