Dahanu Boat Capsize: 32 School Kids Rescued, Search On For Rest

Mumbai: In a tragic case, a boat with 40 school kids on board capsized in Dahanu near Maharashtra on Saturday morning. The boat was just two nautical miles off sea shore.

According to latest reports coming in, overload is said to be reason for the boat capsize.So far 32 kids have been rescued and rescue operations are underway yo save the remaining people who are missing.

“There was an incident of boat capsize at Dahanu Parnaka Beach. A boat carrying around 40 children capsized at 11.30 am. So far 32 children are rescued. Remaining are still missing. Search operation is going on. All our local officers and staff are on the spot. Rescue teams from other departments are also there,” Superintendent of Police, Palghar said.

The Indian Coast Guard has put ships on the job to carry out search operations.

A search was on to find the remaining missing students amidst fears of some casualties. The boat had set off from the Parnaka Beach here. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is helping the police and maritime authorities in the combined sea and air operations. The ICG has diverted at least three ships and two aircrafts to the site for the rescue, the official said.
