TS govt to make Modi’s maiden visit to Telangana memorable

Medak: Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Tuesday inspected the arrangements being made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s August 7 visit to Gajwel in Medak district. He was accompanied by the DGP Anurag Sharma.

After inaugurating the first phase of the Telangana state government’s flagship drinking water project ‘Mission Bhageeratha’, the Prime Minister is to address the public in Komatibanda.

TRS government wants to make Narendra Modi’s maiden visit to the nascent Telangana state, a prestigious one. Arrangements are being made on large scale to make the PM’s tour a grand success and memorable.

The ‘Mission Bhageerath’a project, which is to ultimately enable the supply of piped drinking water to every household, in the first phase, will supply water to nine constituencies including Medchal, Siddipet, Alair, Bhongir, Dubbak, Jangoan, Tungaturthi and Station Ghanpur.

Later, Modi will participate in flagging off several developmental programmes by laying foundation stones for a few schemes. He will also address a public meeting there.

The Telangana State Chief Secretary along with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, held a meeting with district Collector Ronald Ross along with higher officials of the police department here on Tuesday to ascertain the progress made so far on arrangements for the event.

The ruling party cadre, under the supervision of Irrigation Minister Harish Rao, has been putting in a lot of effort to mobilise about two lakh people from local and neighbouring districts for the meeting.

With warnings of heavy rains predicted by the Met Department for the coming week, officials are not taking any chances and have commissioned rain proof tents to accommodate the attendees.

Meanwhile, sources reveal that the Prime Minister official programmes scheduled for August 7 had to accommodate a few changes.

The PM will launch Mission Kakatiya Pylon and Mission Bhagiratha programme at 2.20 pm at Gajwel after which he will move to Warangal where he will inaugurate the Kaloji Narayana Health University in Warangal and lay the foundation stone for both, the 1,600 MW thermal power plant as well as the Manoharabad-Kottapalli railway line.

The laying of foundation stone for Textile Park and Tribal University in Warangal district has been removed from the schedule.
