Criminals Were Nominated For Pharmacy Council: YSRCP

Hyderabad: People with criminal background and those who have police cases registered against them are being nominated to the AP Pharmacy Council, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said.

Addressing a PAC meeting in the Assembly premises here on Friday, Rajendranath Reddy, also a senior YSRCP leader, said the two people nominated by AP health minister Kamineni Srinivas have criminal cases registered against them. The first person was on a 90-day remand for murdering a person and the second person is involved in a forgery case and is attending hearings at the Nampally Court, Rajendranath Reddy said. He questioned the health minister as to the basis for nominating such people to the Pharmacy Council.

Replying to the question, medical and health secretary Poonam Malakondaiah said the people in question were nominated in her predecessor's tenure. A report will be submitted after a thorough investigation into the issue, she said. Speaking on the occasion, director general A Ravishankar said the Council has several cases filed against it and will try to address them at the earliest. The chairman then directed them to submit a report on the Council functioning within a week.

YSR Seva Dal: Steps are being taken to strengthen YSR Seva Dal from the grassroot level, the Seva Dal chairman Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy said in a review meeting held at the party office in Hyderabad. The meeting also reviewed the working of the Dal. YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's political secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and senior YSRCP leaders attended the meeting.
