Biker Injured After Getting Hit By Car Driven By Ex-TDP MLA’s Son

VISAKHAPATNAM: The son of former Telugu Desam Party MLA and ex-minister Bandaru Sathyanarayana, Appalanaidu was involved in a car accident, where one person was seriously injured on Saturday night in Visakhapatnam. Appalanaidu is also the brother-in-law of Srikakulam MP K Rammohan Naidu.

As per reports, Appalanaidu was driving the car at a high speed when he was on the Ramakrishna Beach Road and hit a biker named Chandrakiran who was studying first year medicine in Andhra University. His friend Gautam was on the pillion .After hitting the bike, the SUV vehicle got onto the footpath, rammed into the divider and hit the base of the statue of Potti Sriramulu which was on the side of the road, and came to a halt.

The medico was seriously injured in the head and was bleeding profusely from the nose. He was immediately taken to King George's Hospital for treatment. His friend Gautam escaped with minor injuries. As per local witnesses, Appalanaidu was said to be driving in an inebriated condition and at a very high speed on Saturday night at around 1 PM, after returning from a party. After hitting the motorist, he lost control and veered off onto the footpath.

The angry bystanders are said to have broken the car's windshield, windows, and apparently thrashed Appalanaidu, and his friends who were with him in his car, when he spoke to them rashly after the accident. Police have identified the other two as Praveen and Maurya, one of whom is said to be the son of a retired police officer, who were in the car.

It is also reported that they tried to remove the number plates of the case ( AP 31 DP 6666) , but could not do so and later managed to have escaped from the scene while a abandoning the car.

Visakhapatnam Police are yet to confirm these details and a case has been registered at the local police station. After registering the case under Section 337 of the Indian Penal Code, police reached the spot, seized the car, and began investigating. The police are on the lookout for Appalanaidu and his friends who are yet to be traced.
