Vijayawada: Three miscreants came on a bike on Wednesday night and set fire to a car and two bikes in Singh Nagar here. The incident took place at around 12.30 pm On Wednesday night. Residents who were rudely woken up by the fire called authorities. A fire engine which was rushed to the place, doused the flames. Residents had earlier poured water to put out the fire. The car owner Siva Sankar claimed that he had no enmity with anyone. He said that he had lodged a police complaint with Satyanarayanpuram Police station.

Police are actively investigating the incident. They are scrutinising CCTV footage related to it.They are also trying to determine whether the miscreants were under the influence of alcohol. Three youth can be seen coming on a bike and one of them set fire to a car and two bikes after pouring petrol on them. A resident claimed that Rs.14 lakhs worth assets (car and 2 bikes) were destroyed in this act of vandalism.

YSRCP MLA from Vijayawada Central Malladi Vishnu visited the areas and spoke to police officers. He asked them to track down the offenders and beef up security in the areas. The MLA assured residents that all necessary security measures would be put in place to ensure that such untoward incidents do not take place again.
