Secunderabad: Unable to bear the harassment and false cases foisted on him by a young girl in his locality, a young man attempted suicide by pouring kerosene and setting himself on fire on Wednesday. The incident took place under the Gopalpuram Police Station limits at Ramgopalpet in Secunderabad.

According to details by the police and family members, Ramesh and Sobharani's son Nandaraju alias Nitin Mudiraj (26), resident of Regimental Bazaar was working as a car driver. A few days ago, a young woman near his home had made false complaints to the police that Nitin was harassing her and in another complaint stated that he had hit her younger brother.

The family members of the young woman often filed similar complaints against neighbours and trapped them. On Tuesday night, the young woman's family members clashed with locals as they were caught filming the neighbours. The girl's family has lodged a complaint with the police and falsely implicated Nitin in the case, though he was not involved in the incident.

Upset that his name was dragged into the case for which he had no connection, Nitin attempted suicide by pouring kerosene on himself and set himself on fire at 1.30 pm on Wednesday. Upon hearing his cries his family members immediately rushed him to the Gandhi Hospital, where he was treated for 70 percent burns. Gopalapuram police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
