Bangalore: A man stabbed his girlfriend with a knife in broad daylight and attempted suicide in Bangalore. Sushanth (22), who hailed from Shakti Nagar in Mangalore fell in love with a woman named Deeksha (20) from Bagambila village. The duo was in a relationship from high school but lately, the relationship deteriorated and the woman began to distance herself from the guy.

Following this, Sushanth began to harass the woman repeatedly. Deeksha, who was pursuing her MBA in Karkala filed a police complaint against the harassment.

Upon learning of the complaint, Sushanth traveled from Mangalore to Bagambila village on Friday and arrived at her house around 5 pm. As she was walking on the road, Sushanth stabbed the woman 12 times. Despite her repeated pleas, Sushanth kept assaulting her. Hearing the victim's screams, locals gathered in large numbers. While Sushanth attempted to escape from the spot, he was stopped by the people and then attempted suicide by slitting his throat. The locals rushed them to the nearby hospital. The doctors at the hospital said that the condition of the woman is critical. Sushanth reportedly consumed marijuana prior to the attack and was later arrested by the police. The entire incident was recorded with the presence of CCTV cameras in the area.

A case has been registered at the Ullal police station and further investigation is underway.
