Hyderabad: In the hope of earning quick money by donating kidney, a man from Hyderabad ended up losing Rs 21 lakh to cyber frauds.

According to police, the victim Ram (name changed) came across an advertisement on the internet about kidney donation. When he contacted the strangers they said that he will get Rs 1.6 crore for donating his kidney. He had suffered losses in his business and wanted to recover the money. He, therefore, thought of selling his kidney.

Ram contacted the person on the number that was given in the advertisement and one Dr. Wesley said that he would get Rs 1.6 crore upon donating his kidney.

He also introduced Ram to two other people who claimed that they were doctors and would carry out the operation.

Ram was told about the various processes about the surgery and started taking the money in various installments, saying in return he would get the full sum.

In a matter of six months, Ram ended up paying Rs 21 lakh in a span of six months. He gave the money into 27 bank accounts provided to him by the strangers.

A Rachakonda police officer said that the victim never met the persons and he lost Rs 21 lakh.

A case has been registered and police are interrogating the matter, adding that, prima facie it appears that the African nationals are behind the fraud.

Cops also warned against falling prey to the fraudsters and advised that a person can donate a kidney only to his/her close relative but not to strangers.
