Journalist Shot By Masked Men In Delhi, Survives

New Delhi: A woman journalist was shot at by masked men while she was driving her car around 12.30 am on Sunday. The incident happened in East Delhi's Vasundhara Enclave.

Mitali Chandola, who lives in Noida was driving her Hyundia i20 car, when when the attackers in a Maruti Suzuki car intercepted her and fired two shots aiming to kill her. The bullets pierced through the front windshield and one of them hit her arm.

Police said that they also threw eggs at at her car before fleeing away. She was admitted to Dharamshila Hospital in east Delhi and is out of danger.

Chandola has said that she was not in good terms with her family and the police is looking at family enmity angle.

"She received bullet injuries on her arm and is out of danger. Prima facie it appears to be a case of family dispute," Deputy Commissioner of Police Jasmeet Singh said.

Police is also investigating if gang targetting motorists who use eggs as distraction was behind the attack.

Chandola reportedly worked for a news channel based in Noida.

Probe is underway the case.

In 2008, a 26-year-old journalist, Soumya Viswanathan, was shot dead in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj while she was driving around 3:30 am.
