Shirdi: In a horrific incident, a teenage boy was shot to death while he and his cousins were busy trying to shoot a Tik Tok video, with a gun as a prop. This happened in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district on Thursday. Pratik Wadekar, 17 died on the spot In the temple town of Shirdi.

Pratik was in Shirdi along with his relatives Sunny Pawar, 20, Nitin Wadekar, 27, an 11-year-old boy and another young man, for the last rites of a family member. While at the hotel room they decided to make a Tik Tok video using a country-made pistol which was brought by one of their relatives. They intended for the video to be put up on social media sites.

While they were shooting the video the trigger was mistakenly pressed and a bullet hit Prathik. After the shot was pulled, everyone ran out of the room. Prathik fell unconscious to the ground immediately. The hotel staff heard the sound of the gunshot and rushed to the room only to find Prathik in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a nearby government hospital where he was pronounced dead before admission.

A case was registered under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder), and Sunny Pawar and Nitin Wadekar were arrested while another relative was yet to be traced. The fourth accused is a minor.

Pawar and Wadekar allegedly told police that the pistol went off when they were shooting a video. Further probe is on, inspector Katke said.
