Former TV9 CEO Ravi Prakash Files Bail Plea In Supreme Court

New Delhi: Former TV9 CEO Ravi Prakash has approached the Supreme Court seeking bail, after the Telangana High Court earlier struck down his application for anticipatory bail.

Earlier the anticipatory bail applications including a lunch motion petition filed by Ravi Prakash were dismissed in the Telangana High Court on May 23. Justice A Rajasheker Reddy asked the former CEO to appear before the police and answer their queries, while also directing the police to follow the law under section 41-A of CrPC.

Ravi Prakash has not been appearing before the police in fear of being arrested. Three notices were sent to Ravi Prakash, after complaints were filed against him by the new management, Alanda Media Entertainment Pvt Ltd of TV 9. Charges of fraud, forgery, selling of the TV 9 logos, trying to conspire with outsiders, and preventing the management from taking control of the TV group were filed against him. So far, Ravi Prakash has not responded to any of the notices and is said to be absconding.

Assuring the court that the police won't arrest Ravi Prakash for the next 15 days, Telangana public prosecutor C Pratap Reddy said that the former TV 9 CEO has to appear before the police come forward with his explanations regarding the alleged forgery.

The argument of the petitioner was that the police should wait for NCLT decision on the grounds that it is the internal matter of the company. However, the Judge dismissed the pleas asking the petitioner to respond to police notices first.
