Massive Drug Bust In Hyderabad, Ketamine Worth Rs 25 Cr Seized

Hyderabad: In a raid conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday at a pharmaceutical company, Inchem Laboratories Pvt Ltd, 477 kilos of Ketamine (also called 'date rape drug') worth Rs 25 crore was seized.

As per the details, the NCB sleuths arrested a top executive for allegedly manufacturing Ketamine at one of the pharmaceutical units at Nacharam industrial area.

On May 2, the NCB raided the Nacharam unit of the company where they seized the drugs and summoned Inchem director P Venkateshwarulu who was arrested and produced in a local court on Monday.

Previously, the director was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in 2009 in connection to the seizure of 403 kilos of ephedrine (used to produce amphetamines).

According to the NCB officials, the Nacharam company holds licence for research and development of pharmaceutical drugs but were involved in the illegal manufacture of Ketamine. During the raid, no employees were arrested as the NCB officials stated that the workers were unaware of the type of drugs being manufactured at the facility.
