Warangal: The parents of T Ravali, who was set on fire by a student from her college on Wednesday revealed that they were not aware of their daughter being in a relationship.

Elaborating further, Ravali’s father, T Sudhakar Rao, a farmer, shared that they only had contact with Ravali over the phone as she had been residing in the hostel for a month.

However, he mentioned that none of their recent phone conversations hinted towards a boy or any fight with her friends. Stating that he was working on his farm when he learned of the attack on his daughter, Mr Rao said that they are now taking Ravali to Hyderabad for better treatment, on the advice of the doctors at MGM hospital.

Hailing from Ramachandrapuram of Sangem Mandal in Warangal rural district, Ravali is pursuing BSc final year in Vagdevi college. She was attacked by Anvesh, who is pursuing BCom final year in the same college. Sources said that Anvesh had been pursuing Ravali for some time now.

Reports revealed that following Ravali's rejection for his proposal of love on Wednesday, the accused poured petrol on her and set her on fire. The incident took place in broad daylight in Ramnagar. The victim was rushed to MGM hospital where the doctors stated that 80 percent of her body was burnt.
