Jayaram Chigurupati Murder Case: Rakesh Reddy Custody Period Ends

Hyderabad: The eight- day custody period of Rakesh Reddy, the main accused in the NRI businessman Jayaram Chigurupati murder case and his accomplice and driver Srinivas ended on Saturday.

Banjara Hills ASP K S Rao along with West Zone DCP A R Srinivas interrogated the accused for almost eight days. After medical examination they were produced before the local court, after which they were sent to the Chanchalguda Jail.

Along with them, a history sheeter named Nagesh and his nephew Vishal were also taken into police custody. ACP Malla Reddy and CI Srinivasulu and CI Rambabu were also interrogated. It is alleged that CI Ramababu had informed Jubilee Hills Inspector Harishchandra Reddy, after Jayaram's murder and that Harishchandra Reddy spoke to Rakesh Reddy twice .

ACP Malla Reddy claimed that he was introduced to Rakesh Reddy by Banjara Hills CI Govind Reddy . Harishchandra Reddy and Govind Reddy were both attached to the CCPS and orders were issued to that effect.

Based on Rakesh Reddy's phone call data police are said to have questioned more than 60 people known to Rakesh and have collected further clues and evidences from them.

Police again questioned Jayaram's niece Shikha Choudary, her maid and also the security guard and gathered more details. A small Telugu film actor Surya Prasad was also questioned and it is said that the police are considering questioning Rakesh's friends Naga Venkatesh,Sankar, Balvinder Singh and also prominent political leader who has close links to Rakesh Reddy later in the week.
