Adoni: In an out of the ordinary case, a woman was caught by her husband and handed over to money lenders from whom she had borrowed money. The incident took place in Rajendranagar of Adoni in Kurnool district on Thursday.

According to reports, the woman was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten up by her husband ,money lenders and residents of her colony for taking hand loans and failing to repay the same.

Yellamma lived with her husband Jammanna and their seven children in Rajendranagar and had borrowed a sum of over 2.5 lakhs rupees from money lenders, shopkeepers and others. Unable to repay the loan, she ran away from home 10 days ago. With the moneylenders coming to his house, Jammanna located her whereabouts, brought her back and handed her over to the moneylenders.

With her husband's help, the moneylenders tied her to a tree and thrashed her for not returning their money. Jammanna also thrashed her as she stole silver ware and gold ornaments from their house as well. She said that she herself was cheated by another man, who took her money and fled and listening to her story, and that she ran away because she didn't know what to do. The local residents intervened and helped in getting her freed.

But the twist to the story was revealed by Adoni CI Bhaskar.He said that the woman was not beaten by moneylenders but by her husband who had beaten her for borrowing money from others.She was sneaking out with the gold and silver to sell them and repay them but her husband caught her and tied ger to the tree , he said.

The CI said that no moneylender was involved in the issue but a case has been registered against husband of the woman and he has been taken into custody. for further enquiry.
