Police Crack Down On Cockfight, 11 Arrested

Hyderabad: Medipally police busted an unauthorized cockfight taking place in the city and arrested 11 persons for conducting the cockfight. It was reported that the cockfight was organised at an isolated location on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

According to the Medipally inspector, B. Anji Reddy at around 5 pm in the evening on Monday, police got a tip-off about the cockfight in an open piece of land in Satyanarayanapuram neighborhood. A police team rushed to the spot and caught 11 persons involved in the racket. The people arrested have been identified as Bothula Nagaraju, Kunchala Anjaneyulu, Tanneru Subba Rao, Orsu Vijay, Tanapadi Subba Rao, Yasarapu Venkatadri, Kunchala Subba Rao, Pallapu Srimannarayana, Karnati Srinivas Rao, A Venkaktaiah and G. Praveen.

The inspector added that three roosters were rescued and Rs 1,350 cash has been seized. Eight mobile phones were also confiscated from the organizers. A case has been filed under section 9 (1) of AP Gaming Act, against the accused, he said.
