Bengaluru: A young man thrashed his mother with a broomstick, after he was reprimanded by her over his bad behavior, and mainly his cigarette addiction. This incident happened in the Acchukote police station of Chennammanakere. The nineteen year-old Jeevan (19), from Chennammanakere was a degree student and had fallen into bad habits .

His mother would regularly reprimand him and this in turn annoyed him. Jeevan wanted his girlfriend and friends to treat him like a hero. He invited his girlfriend to his residence and smoked cigarettes in front of his mother and often bunked college and went around with his girlfriend. Fed up with his behaviour and his cigarette addiction in particular, Jeevan’s mother had warned him about his future. This irked the nineteen year-old who hurled abuses against her , took a broomstick and hit his mother and warned her not to interfere his life. In the video, he is threatening her that if she discussed him with their neighbours and spoke ill of him, she would be thrashed again.

Jeevan’s sister who tried to intervene was told to stay clear. She is said to have recorded the video and posted uploaded it online. The video went viral and police reacted to it by taking up the case suo moto and filed a criminal case on Jeevan. Once police came into the picture, Jeevan apologised to his mother and promised to behave himself.
