Nampalli: A 16-year-old pregnant girl committed suicide here on Saturday at Tirumalagiri, Nampalli. The deceased was a daily labourer who lives with her parents.

According to the locals and relatives, Bhootam Srinu and his son (15) have been raping the girl for some years. On Thursday, she went to a private hospital in Devarakonda when she was suffering from stomach pain. The doctors declared that she was 7-month pregnant. The victim along with her family members went to the house of the accused and questioned them. They gave Rs 5000 to the girl for abortion and sent her back. On Friday morning, the girl and her grandmother went to the same hospital but they disagreed for abortion.

Then the girl and her relatives again went to Srinu's house again. He ignored them and denied he had anything to do with her pregnancy. The depressed girl committed suicide by consuming poison. Her family members immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Nalgonda where the doctors declared that she was brought dead. On Saturday night, the girl's relatives protested in front of Srinu's house and demanded justice. The police intervened and started probing the matter.
