Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police conducted a search and cordon operation at Pardiwada, Hussaini Alam on Saturday night.

According to the police, DCP Amber Kishore Jha, keeping in view the upcoming elections, 254 policemen were deployed to maintain law and order. During the operation, they seized 46 vehicles wtih no documents and nine rowdy sheeters were taken into custody. The police also checked the criminal records of the gang. 136 liqour bottles which were kept illegally were seized by the police officials.

In a similar operation at Nizampet near Bachupally, the Cyberabad police held 60 suspects and seized 61 vehicles in a cordon and search operation because they were not able to produce valid documents.

The operation was conducted from 10 pm last week. Police said this particular operation involved 180 police personnel, including Madhapur DCP A. Venkateshwar Rao.

The search parties covered a total of 1,201 houses at the local Indiramma Phase I in Nizampet near Bachupally. Police detained 57 people as suspects and three repeat offenders and seized 33 bikes, 26 autos and two cars by the end of the operation.
