YSR District: A man here killed his wife over her extra-marital affair. The accused Pasupuleti Venkata Ramana (40) and Rani (35) got married in 1999. They had two children one of whom died recently. Venkata Ramana went to Gulf and sent his savings of 10 lakh rupees to his wife. She purchased a piece of land at Rayachoti.

Meanwhile, Rani got into an extra-marital relationship with her boyfriend. Venkata Ramana learned of the matter after returned a few months ago. Frequent arguments broke out between him and his wife. He also lodged a complaint against Rani and her boyfriend at Sambepalle police station. The police filed a case under 497 section.

Meanwhile, Rani tried to sell her property in Rayachoti and also approached police for the documents which were with Venkata Ramana. An enraged Venkata Ramana killed Rani for having an extramarital affair and wasting money on leading a life of luxury, the police said.

On Tuesday evening, Rani went to SN colony check post along with her boyfriend on a bike. Venkata Ramana followed them and beheaded Rani with an axe from behind. Her boyfriend escaped from the scene of the incident while Venkata Ramana went to the police station along with Rani's head and surrendered.

The police took Venkata Ramana into custody and seized the severed head. They also filed a case and started probing the matter.
