Hyderabad: A man allegedly killed his wife for extra dowry on Sunday in the Banjara Hills police station limits.

According to police, the accused Siraj works as a Welder in Sanathnagar. He married Aseema (19) from Srikrishna Nagar last year. He took 1.5 lakh cash, 20 Tolas of gold and a flat worth Rs 50 lakh as dowry at the time of marriage. Since the flat was registered in the name of Aseema, Siraj forced his in-laws to get the flat registered in his name.

On August, 18, Siraj beat up his wife and sent her away from the house.

Aseema went to her father's (Aslam Khan) home along with her four-month-old baby boy. Meanwhile, Aslam Khan convinced Siraj to take his daughter back. In the early hours of Sunday, while the family was asleep, Siraj locked the doors and slit his wife's throat. A severely injured Aseema died on the spot. Siraj and his family members are currently absconding.

Aslam Khan learned about the matter with the help of neighbors and was shocked that his daughter was dead. The Banjara Hills police reached the spot and the clues team collected the details. The accused was traced to Sanathnagar with the help of Cellphone signals which got later disconnected, said police. Based on a complaint given by the victim's father, the police has filed a case and started probing the matter. A hunt is on to nab the culprit.
