Burglars Attack Journalist, Wife Brutally 

Thiruvananthapuram: A journalist and his wife were brutally beaten up by a band of robbers at Kerala. The victim, Vinod is a Kannur editor at Mathrubhumi newspaper. The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday at Taje Chovva, Kannur district.

A gang of four robbers went to editor Vinod Chandran's house with the intention of robbery. They tied cloth around the victims' eyes preventing them from seeing anything and bound them with a rope. They later attacked the victims with a knife inflicting injuries on them. The robbers escaped with Rs. 35,000 in cash and 25 tolas of gold. They made away with ATM cards, a laptop and mobile phones. The victims approached the neighbors for help and complained to the police.

The couple are undergoing treatment in ICU at AKG memorial hospital, said Kannoor CI Pradeepan Kannippayil. The police collected the fingerprint samples and visited the scene of crime with a sniffer dog squad. The police filed a case and started probing the matter.
