Sexual Harassment Twist To Suicide Case

Jaggayapet: A couple, dejected over not having children committed suicide on Friday at Sitaramapuram here. According to the police, Katoju Prasad (45) and Lakshmi Saraswathi (36) got married 16 years ago. Prasad worked as AP SPF constable at Vishakapatnam steel plant (Jaggayapet branch). Saraswati was a teacher in a branch of Sri Chaitanya school .

After returning from school, Saraswathi felt depressed over not having children and hanged herself to a fan when her husband was not at home. Prasad learned about her suicide and rushed home. He tried to resuscitate her with the help of locals but she was already dead.

A dejected Prasad, unable to bear his wife's death, hanged himself in other room. SI G Srihari Babu reached the spot and examined the bodies. Police filed a case of suspicious suicides and started probing the matter.

In a fresh twist to this suicide case, police are said to have found a note written by Saraswati in which she accused the Dean of the School she was working in, of harassment. He is also reported to have threatened to file a case under SC/ST act against her. Police are probing the matter.
